Dual Meet Comments
It is really hard to say we had one or two outstanding performances when we had a great team effort. We started out by giving up two pins but both James Nelson and Connor Wheeler set the tempo for us with high intensity and wrestling with confidence. Then Luke Jarman, Jameson Pflug, and Jonathan Nelson came back with three tough wins against three very good wrestlers. Luke started the comeback with a pin followed by another pin by jameson and Jonathan topped it off with toe to toe battle with a 3-1 win. Chance Brochu, a first year wrestler who is doing a nice job for us for his first season, was pinned but he still worked hard and kept the tempo up for our team. Cordell Boody wrestling up two weight classes to fill in for an injury Jacob Carlson did a nice job but was over powered and pinned. Jackson Doller wreslted with the never quit Tiger attitude to come from behind to earn a pin that started the Tigers on the comeback. Then Jay Karich and Luca Cockerham finished the night off for us with two pins to seal the deal. We have been dualing with Virginia a number of years now. It is a war everytime we meet on the mat. They have a solid program and it is nice to come out on top. Josiah Vik`s really speaks for this young teams attitude. He wrestled a stud tonight and could have easily given up and been pinned but he jsut kept battling and by fighting off his back and going the 6 minutes he saved the team two points. It is that kind of attitude that allowed us to beat a solid team like Virgina. We also had wins from a number of our JV wrestlers. Coming up with wins for us was James Nelson, Hunter Weise, Jon Morley, Jared Woodhull, and Kelby Werner. I was very proud of our guys tonight and they are truly a joy to coach. We wrestle at the Northern Invite in Ashland this Saturday with wrestling starting at 10.
